Gratitude

Gratitude fosters happiness, which is why I have heard of people keeping a gratitude journal. To do this, every morning write out at least five things you're thankful for. In times of stress, pause and reflect on 10 things you're grateful for.

What are you grateful for today?

When we were missionaries, we taught investigators about prayer. As parents, we teach our children to pray. We encourage them to first thank Heavenly Father for his blessings. Why?

Insert your answers to this question with a comment below, so we can all benefit from your observations. I am looking forward to your insights.

Let us not forget to thank Heavenly Father for our greatest blessing.

Take ten minutes and watch the video below.

  1. As has been mentioned before, we have a tremendous bounty for which we can be thankful.

Today, especially in the midst of trials, we find love, support, faith, and empathy from family, friends, and acquaintances. That in itself is a blessing.

Interestingly, though we feel there is really not much we can do to lessen others' pain during difficult times, empathy and compassion may be the most significant comfort of all.

Remember when we were children. If a game didn't end the way you wanted it to, you could shout "Do over," and then try again until you got the outcome you wanted. Wouldn't that be great? Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we do get another chance.

We have been given so many things for happy lives. We have all the ingredients to make life joyous and fulfilling. And when things don't work out the way we hoped or wanted, we can show faith in his promises.

He understands our longing for the care-free days of youth. Challenges of rearing a family, pursuing our hopes and dreams, making good out of challenging circumstances are admittedly engulfing but possible. (Romans 8:28)

We don't just get what we have now. If we trust in the Lord and endure to the end, we receive the fondest desires of our hearts. Everytime.

How can I be so sure? Faith.

  2. HOPE is the word that I think of. When all else in the world is hanging by a thread and you feel as if there is nowhere else to go. Christ is always there, we just need to let him in. He is the HOPE of the world. My new favorite scripture is St. Jonn 16:33. "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. Christ is watiting for us to come to him with open arms. He is the way, He is the only way, He is our HOPE.
